David Soskin joined Cheapflights.com as CEO upon the management buy-in with Hugo Burge in March 2000. He was previously at ABN AMRO Corporate Finance, where he was Head of Global Media. He served as Cheapflights Media’s CEO until 2008 when he became a Non-Executive Director. Under his leadership, Cheapflights Media grew from an attic-based operation into an award-winning international leader in online travel search; Cheapflights has been included in the Sunday Times Microsoft TechTrack Top 100 fastest growing privately-owned technology companies for seven years in a row, the only company ever to have achieved this distinction. In 2010 Sunday Times PwC Profit Track, Cheapflights ranked at Number 11 of all UK privately-owned companies.
In 2007, David together with Hugo Burge launched HOWZAT Media, which invests in early stage digital media companies on both sides of the Atlantic. Howzat’s investments include WAYN.com, Academia.edu, CheapToday.com and Trivago.com. David is currently Executive Chairman of Swapit.co.uk and Chairman of mySupermarket.co.uk.
David graduated from the University of Oxford (First Class Honours in Modern History), where he was President of the Oxford Union, and from the Harvard Business School (MBA) where he was a Harkness Fellow. In 1995, David was named as one of Europe’s 500 most dynamic entrepreneurs by the European Foundation for Entrepreneurial Research and in 2006, David was a finalist for the Ernst and Young UK Entrepreneur of the Year Award.
